In our society, most people wait til they are sick, experiencing symptoms and til the pain has progressed. It’s important we get away from this habit and get more into a prevention and maintenance model.
At least several times per week, patients will ask me, “Dr. Russell, when I start feeling _________________ pain, what stretch can I start doing to get rid of it?”
When I ask, “Are you doing your stretching I’ve shown you when you started coming in?” The answer is usually a resounding “NO”.
I had to do one of my educational videos which covers my favorite quote: An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure:
Too many people, once they “feel better” they stop doing things to maintain and prevent future problems. If you are a patient of ours, refer back to the email you received your first week with us explaining the importance of doing daily stretching and the videos reviewing all of them if you need to. If you are not a patient of ours and would like a copy of the email with all the stretching and exercises, feel free to contact us: email@example.com.
It’s time to make a change if you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. Your body and health need to be a priority. Always remember, An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure!
