Why Diets Fail and The Secret to Finally Lose the Weight

Americans’ waistlines are expanding more than ever.  80% of American adults are overweight, 44% are obsese and children are following closely in their footsteps.  Obesity risk factors to most other illnesses from diabetes, stroke, heart attack, cancer and so much more.  This leads to people searching for an answer to lose weight but diets fail time and time again.

In my 23 years in practice, I have been educating the public how to revive their health naturally.  An important aspect of regaining health is losing weight, but all these diets are missing the point.  Restricting calories to try and shrink the body is why diets fail.  It’s why weight watchers, LA weight loss, Nutrisystem and most other programs out there are continually changing yet they are really just repackaging the way they count calories.  They ignore the quality of nutrition and toxicity.

Most people are very toxic.  Chemicals build up in the body which tell the body to store body fat.  If you address the toxicity, the body eliminates body fat more easily and you lose weight while building lean muscle.  This type of program also resets your metabolism, cuts cravings, improves the energy, reduces inflammation and overall improves your health.

Other factors I look at with patients to help weight loss are hydration, gut health and adrenal gland function.

If you are dehydrated, it will make it more difficult to lose weight.  Most people do not drink enough water.  You should be drinking around half your body weight in ounces of water.  You are also most likely drinking something that dehydrates you:  coffee and other caffeine products.  One study I read states just one 8 ounce cup of coffee can negate up to 4 to 8 glasses of water from your body.

If your gut is not healthy it will affect the way your body absorbs nutrients.  Enzymes are key to break down your foods to their micronutrients for optimal absorption.  Most people lack the enzymes in their digestive system and aren’t getting enough from their foods.  It’s important to supplement with enzymes and stabilized probiotics.  We only use plant based enzymes because they are healthier for your body than bovine, chicken and pork products.  Collagen is also important to help the gut heal.

Another missed component of weight loss is adrenal dysfunction.  Your adrenal glands help balance hormones and deal with stress.  One of the hormones is cortisol and if your levels are not correct you will store more body fat.  Coffee/caffeine is one product that destroys these glands.  Refined carbohydrates also damage the adrenal glands.
