Neck arthritis, more accurately described as degeneration, happens to many people when they don’t take care of their spine. A recent study of patients suffering with neck arthritis and pain shows they can be helped by chiropractic. In the research, 10 adults with upper cervical arthritis were treated with chiropractic adjustments and therapies using mobilization devices. Before the study started, the patients rated their pain on a scale of 0 to 10 with 10 being the worst. At the start of the study, the average pain score was 8.6. Post treatment the patients showed a significant improvement with an average report of pain down to a 2.6. X-rays showed 60% improvement in the alignment of the upper cervical region. The range of motion of the neck was better in 90% of the patients. 80% of the patients also reported overall clinical improvement as either “good” or “excellent”.
This is a small study, but many other studies show similar response of patients to chiropractic care.
