Frozen Shoulder Treatment with Chiropractic

Have you had shoulder pain that becomes so restricted it feels like it is frozen?  You can’t raise your arm that high and you feel like you have to move it by shrugging your shoulder? Does the pain get progressively worse and nothing is helping?  Does it interfere with your normal daily activities including your ability to sleep?  If this sounds like you, you are probably suffering with Frozen Shoulder Syndrome.   Traditionally

frozen shoulder treatment usually includes physical therapy, injections, steroids, pain medications and muscle relaxers.  These treatments aren’t successful in bringing motion back and the pain relief usually doesn’t last long.

Frozen shoulder syndrome is most common among the middle aged and more specifically women.  The capsule around the shoulder joint tightens and thickens.  This severely restricts the motion of the bones, ligaments and tendons that support the shoulder.  The best way for frozen shoulder treatment is to work on the different structures and improve function.

Studies show that frozen shoulder treatment that incorporates chiropractic adjustments and exercise therapy has success in relieving the condition.  In a previous blog post of ours we discussed Frozen Shoulder Syndrome Relief with Chiropractic Care and a study of this condition.

In another study of Frozen Shoulder Treatment, the effects of a chiropractic technique called MUA (Manipulation Under Anesthesia) along with soft tissue therapy was performed.  18 patients with Frozen Shoulder Syndrome were assessed before treatment and again at 1 and 6 months.  Active range of motion and isometric maximal voluntary contraction were compared in the affected and non affected shoulders at each stage.

There was a 27 to 37% improvement in active range of motion after one month of frozen shoulder treatment with MUA.  The improvements in motions were mostly sustained after 6 months, although some did regress.  Overall there was a significant reduction in pain both during the day and nighttime.

These and other studies show that chiropractic is a gentle, natural and effective frozen shoulder treatment.  Dr. Russell Brokstein, Freehold chiropractor and owner of Hometown Family Wellness Center has had success in helping many patents who suffered with Frozen Shoulder Syndrome.  Watch one of our patients tell his story how he came in for low back pain but started seeing relief of his shoulder problem that he suffered with for several years:
