Freehold Chiropractor Explains When Chiropractic Care Should Begin

When do you start going to the dentist?  Do you wait until you have pain or until your teeth start to decay?  Do you just want the dentist to shoot a cavity with Novocaine or do you want him to fix the decaying tooth?

When do you start going to the eye doctor?  Do you wait until your eyes deteriorate?  Do you wait until you have glaucoma and cataracts or do you do preventative measures?

How about your car?  Do you wait until it breaks down or do you bring it in for periodic maintenance?  How about an oil, lube and filter?

The biggest and most important question is when should you start to go to the chiropractor?

The saying “there is no time like the present,” is very true when applied to preventative health care.  Many people incorporate that with the other disciplines, but we neglect the most important system of the body:  The Nervous System.

It is this system that the chiropractor helps you with, and it is the nervous system that controls all functions of your body.  The power that goes from the brain to the rest of the body allows it to heal itself and be healthy.  Your heart beats, your lungs breath, your stomach digests in conjunction with the intestines, your eyes can see, your ears can hear, your muscles can contract, you can move all without having to think about it.

This nervous system is so important that we have the spinal bones protecting chiropractor freehold Freehold Chiropractor Explains When Chiropractic Care Should Beginit.  Unfortunately the daily stresses that occur from the time of birth and throughout life cause VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATIONS:  the bones move out of place, putting pressure on the spinal cord and nerves and interfering with the functions of our body.

The first subluxations develop during the birth process as the medical doctor pulls and twists on the baby’s neck and if uncorrected at this early stage, will only add further neurological stress to the growth and the adaptive demands of a new life.  Children need chiropractic care.  They receive the best care and the most profound results for ear infections and colds, respiratory conditions, digestive issues, and so much more.

Subluxations continue to occur as children learn to walk they fall several times, they sit in classes with poor posture, carry heavy books and backpacks, play sports, play fight and wrestle, numerous accidents and falls from a bike, then auto accidents and other injuries as we get older through teenage and adult years, and general stress, poor nutrition, lack of exercise can all add to the subluxations.  Regular chiropractic exams and adjustments allow for you and your children to have nervous systems that are functioning optimally.

The majority of  society reaches for medicine when “sick,” but the fact is the relief is from masking symptoms with a pill or injection, while the causes were never fully corrected.  These medications then lead to many other side effects.  Everybody seeks Relief, but why not find the cause and correct it.  The earlier you and your family are monitored and corrected for subluxations, the more optimally healthy you will be without drugs and or surgery.  The longer you wait to get your spine checked, the bones start to degenerate and the joints become more arthritic…  Your growing family and neighbors need chiropractic care.

There is no age, size, gender, color or financial limit for who deserves excellent chiropractor freehold Freehold Chiropractor Explains When Chiropractic Care Should Beginhealth!  You were born with  health and deserve it throughout life!  It is Natural To Be Healthy! An optimally functioning nervous system is necessary to maintain and preserve your health.  EVERYBODY needs chiropractic care!

The Importance of Chiropractic – More than Pain Relief Explains Freehold Chiropractor

We currently live in a society that is run by medicine and surgery.  This isn’t health care at all.. this is what is called sick care.  Waiting til you have pain, symptoms, high blood pressure, digestive issues, chronically sick, cancer and other conditions then just treating it with medications that at best cover up the symptoms making you think you are healthy until the next symptoms appear.  Many of these symptoms are actually just side effects of the medications you are taking.  Rather than taking you off the medications causing side effects, they put you on another medication to cover up that symptom but causes many more side effects.  This is a vicious cycle which is the downfall of our health and wellness in the Unite States with skyrocketing costs.

When most people hear or think about chiropractic, they think of pain relief.  This is what the medical profession would like everybody to think, but it is the furthest thing from the facts.  Yes, people go to the chiropractor and get relief of their back pain, their neck pain, headaches and migraines, Fibromyalgia, sciatica, numbness and tingling just to name a few.  Research is constantly coming out showing the effectiveness of chiropractic with all of these conditions.  You can view many of them on my blog by clicking:  Hometown Family Wellness Center’s Blog.

More importantly is that if everybody would understand how the body works chiropractor freehold The Importance of Chiropractic More than Pain Relief Explains Freehold Chiropractorand what chiropractors actually do, YOU TOO would experience what true health care is all about.

Chiropractic was founded in 1895 and is based off the natural functioning of the body.  We all know the nervous system controls all organs, systems, cells, tissues and functions of the body.  Your brain sends messages to all of these areas and as long as the nerve impulses reach the intended destination, your overall health will be optimal.  Because this system is so important, we were created with a protective boney spine that not only is hard, but we have multiple joints that allow us to move.  Now, for a second, just imagine if the spine was just one long bone.. that wouldn’t work too well would it?

The only problem with our spine consisting of 24 moving vertebrae or bones is that with all the daily stresses we encounter, they can easily move out of place, putting pressure on the nerves.  When this occurs, there is interference of the messages the brain is trying to send through the nerves.

You already probably have experienced numbness and tingling in your arms,  hands, legs or feet and know it’s because there is pressure on the nerves in your neck or low back that go down the extremities.  But what do you think would happen to the nerves that are between your shoulder blades that go to your heart and your lungs?  Do you think you’d get numbness and tingling of the heart or lungs?  What about the nerves in your mid back that help control the stomach, intestines and kidneys… would they start tingling?  What if only 80% of the nerve message gets through the nerve that goes to the heart?  Do you think the heart will work at 100%?  of course not, it can only function at best 80%!!!  Is this a healthy heart?  Do you think your blood pressure can be normal with the heart only receiving 80% of the nerve impulses it’s supposed to be getting?  What about all the other organs getting less than 100% of the nerve impulses?  Is less than 100% going to bring you optimal health?

Another analogy that might make this more clear to you is thinking of your house.  There is a circuit breaker that is the control center of the house and all the wires (nerves) leave it to go to every room in the house.  Each room has multiple outlets that you plug different appliances, electronics, lights, etc.  What happens if the circuit trips?  Whatever is plugged into that outlet from that circuit is going to shut off or malfunction.

This is how basic your body works.. I know, I made it look very simple.  Your body short circuits from the time you are born to current.  We have stress that accumulates in the body, that cause the spinal segments to misalign, thereby putting pressure on the nerves.  At birth the medical doctors are pulling on the baby, twisting his or her neck, misaligning the bones in the neck.  As a child, how many times did you trip and fall, play fight with friends, have accidents playing sports.  All the years sitting in chairs at school that are hard to sit with proper posture.  Carrying heavy book bags, then purses or briefcases on one shoulder.  Just walking and missing the curb can cause the bones to misalign.  Ever have an auto accident?  Just think of all the small traumas that you never considered can be doing damage to not only your body but your entire health.

It is so important that everybody gets their spines checked.  We all experience stress that causes the bones to misalign on a daily basis that puts pressure on the nerves and decreases the overall function and health of our bodies.  These misalignments are called subluxations by chiropractors.  A chiropractor can evaluate anybody to detect and correct these subluxations, bringing about optimal nerve function and get your body as close to optimal health as possible.

Imagine everybody being more healthy with a drug-free, hands on approachchiropractor freehold The Importance of Chiropractic More than Pain Relief Explains Freehold Chiropractor with chiropractic.  Research shows that chiropractic saves money in healthcare.  Less hospital admissions, less surgeries and procedures, less prescription drugs.

Why wouldn’t  you want to be a part of the growing trend of patients who want to be healthy naturally?  Are you ready to be able to enjoy a normal active lifestyle, reduce your health care costs, improve the functioning of your body, reduce your need for harmful medications and surgeries?

Chiropractor in Freehold NJ Helps Infant with Ear Infections and Congestion

Many infants suffer needlessly with ear infections and congestion.  Parents think the only solution is to go to the pediatrician, who prescribe one round after another of antibiotics.  There are many side effects of taking these antibiotics and most times the antibiotics don’t work, or if they work, it’s a temporary patch and then the ear infections return.  Research shows that medical doctors have over-prescribed antibiotics and other medications causing them to no longer be effective and shouldn’t be taken unless totally necessary.

Also, one has to realize that antibiotics also kill the normal healthy bacteria that are needed to keep the body healthy.

Another suggestion by medical doctors is to put tubes in the ears.  They rarely explain the high risks of the surgery, including permanent hearing loss and the high possibility that the ear infections will come back after a couple of years.

Chiropractors have been highly successful in helping infants with ear infections or otitis media.  By addressing the cause of the build up of fluid that is an ideal environment for the bacterial build up, the majority of ear infections resolve naturally with chiropractic care… NO DRUGS, NO SURGERY!

As a chiropractor in Freehold, NJ I have seen many infants over the last 13 plus years in practice.  Many of which were on several rounds of antibiotics and also told nothing else would help but surgery.  Fortunately they found information online or were referred to me by other parents whose children were helped by chiropractic.  Recently, I had a mother who was being treated for low back pain and she was complaining how her 2 year old daughter has been fighting ear infections no and off for several months and more recently congestion for a month.  The pediatricians kept prescribing antibiotics which were not only ineffective but were starting to discolor the infants teeth.  I informed the mother how chiropractic can help and after just one visit, the infant’s congestion cleared up and after the second visit her ear infections were gone.  Watch the mother explain:

Do you have children who suffer with ear infections, otitis media, or who have chronic congestion and colds.  Wouldn’t you like a healthy, drug-free alternative to medicine and surgery?  Share this blog with other parents who have children suffering with these conditions too as it’s so important for everybody to know there are healthy options for the children.

If you live in Freehold or the surrounding towns of Marlboro, Manalapan, Howell, Colts Neck, Jackson, Morganville or other communities in Monmouth and Ocean County, New Jersey, contact our office so we can help your children with their ear infection and build a stronger, healthy immune system!  For more information on our practice, Hometown Family Wellness Center, click: www.ChiropractorFreehold.com.

Freehold Chiropractor Shares Health Myths and how you can be Healthy Naturally without Drugs or Surgery

As a chiropractor in Freehold, NJ, I find it so important to educate my patients on how to be healthy naturally.  People are constantly researching the internet for information, not realizing many of the research is funded by the companies trying to push drugs, surgery and other products onto the public.

I put together a report for my patients on how to be healthy naturally without drugs or surgery and I am now sharing this information with a series of blog posts.chiropractor freehold Freehold Chiropractor Shares Health Myths and how you can be Healthy Naturally without Drugs or Surgery

Today we are going to start off with:

Things Your Parents, Teacher and Medical Doctor

Never Told You

We learn many new facts and bits of information every day.  For example, when we turn on the radio or television, someone is usually speaking about a current event, a past event, new research, or new products that promise amazing results.  We even learn information by watching game shows on television that test our knowledge, and compare it to a 5th grader.

Commercials are pushing one drug after another.  I’ve even heard one recently for a pill for women saying,  “There is no medical need to have your period, call your doctor to take _________.”  This is pure insanity!  These drugs cause imbalances of the normal female hormones and have many dangerous side effects.

We learn from our friends, on the job from our boss and other employees and from our parents and grandparents.  We also learn from every professional that we hire – our dentist, medical doctor, chiropractor, lawyer, accountant, website master, and personal trainer.

As researchers discover more and more knowledge, our knowledge has to be updated.  The majority of research is proven to be wrong as years go by, and a lot of the research is biased as I mentioned before as it is funded by people trying to sell something.  Remember when you were a child taught to wash your hands with bar soap? Years later, there was a shift to anti-bacterial soaps.  And now, the latest research is that good old regular bar soap is really the best way to get our hands clean and keep the bacterial count low, whereas the anti-bacterial soaps are actually creating super bacteria that antibiotics don’t work on and putting our immune systems and health at risk.

Have you noticed that there are gaps in your knowledge about how to do things “right” or “better”?  For example, years ago when your parents tucked you in bed when you had a fever with a dose of aspirin and covered you with a light blanket.  You slept on a flat pillow and a few stuffed animals surrounded you. They believed they were doing everything they could do to help you get better. Now knowledge has progressed to the point where we know that it’s possible to burn out a fever by piling up the blankets and taking some anti-infectious herbs. We know that the flat pillow may have been okay for you as a young child, but as your body grew, the pillow width should also grow to fit the curve in your neck.

There are time gaps in our knowledge and some of these gaps may be contributing to you not recovering from whatever illness you suffer from.

As a doctor of chiropractic, I have been well educated as a health myth buster, ready to fill in your time gaps in knowledge!  I keep up-to-date on the latest research findings and love to educate my patients about how to stay healthy. It’s only when you’re healthy that I’m happy!

I’ve selected five topics for this blog series:

1 sleeping instructions

2 stress reduction

3 dietary methods to reduce pain and inflammation

4 how to sit at your desk and have good posture (ergonomics)

5 nutritional support for joints

The more recommendations you can incorporate into your lifestyle, the quicker you can put your health issue behind you in the past.  If you have any questions about any of the recommendations, be sure to contact me or ask me at the office during your next visit.

The More You Know, The Healthier You Will Be

Knowledge is power!  When I was in chiropractic school, every day was so amazing to me because I was learning so much!  I found out why I had neck pain from sitting at my desk in a certain way, why my arm would get numb when I woke up in the morning, why taking a little mini-vacation during the middle of the day is one of the best stress busters, and all sorts of things like that.

As I see it, you can now be the recipient of all that knowledge – without paying for that expensive education!  Everything you learn here is to help make your life easier and this blog series is my gift to you!

Watch out for each of the blog series to the very end and I’m sure you will discover answers to some of the questions you have probably had for years!

You deserve better health!  Drugs and surgery do not bring health to a body.  They just temporarily cover up symptoms and actually cause many side effects and other problems.  This will lead you to a vicious cycle or poor health.

Many of my patients from Freehold, Marlboro, Manalapan, Howell, Colts Neck, Jackson, Morganville and other local communities in Monmouth and Ocean counties in NJ have found my approach to health is true health care.  People are sick and tired of the current health care system of just treating symptoms with harmful medications.  We are giving patients their health and life back!  Are you ready to gain your health and life back?  If so, contact our office for your complimentary consultation!

Fibromyalgia Sufferers Require Quality Sleep Suggests Freehold NJ Chiropractor

If you suffer with Fibromyalgia there are many sleep recommendations that are so helpful.  Getting a good night of sound sleep is more valuable than gold!  There are several recommendations I am going to discuss today on how you can break your old habits and start catching some zzzz’s soon?  I’ll start with the easiest ones first, then progress to include the rest of them.

Going to bed at the same time every night is one of the most important keys in getting a good night of sleep.  That’s why many of our parents raised us with the “Lights out at 10:00 p.m.” philosophy.  They wanted us to learn how to establish a consistent sleep pattern.

Whenever there’s pain, the nervous system releases a chemical called substance P.  The purpose of Substance P is to amplify the pain and cause nerves nearby to become more sensitive to pain.  This should result in you paying attention to your body to take care of the pain!  Scientists have found that deep sleep is critical to resetting the Substance P mechanism so that it doesn’t get out-of-control, causing you to be more sensitive to pain than you should be.

Napping is discouraged because it interrupts regular sleep patterns.  You can have a relaxation session during the middle of the day for 20 minutes though, to restore your energy levels.

You may have noticed that there are some foods and beverages that tend to keep you awake during the night or promote a night of tossing and turning. Taking any type of stimulants up to three hours before bed can result in a night of interrupted sleep.  This includes chocolate, coffee and other caffeine products, and even herb teas with caffeine.  Drinking water is certainly an excellent habit for any fibromyalgia patient but do it from the moment you wake up in the morning, and stop drinking water four hours before bedtime. That way you won’t have to wake up to use the rest room during the middle of the night.

There are certain things to know if you snack before bed too.  If you have low blood sugar, a snack of a protein and carb food is best. That would mean a half slice bread with some turkey or chicken on it, maybe a little mustard, lettuce and tomato with a few ounces of milk if you sleep better with a little food in your stomach.  You could also have a few slices or cubes of cheese with a handful of peanuts.

There are other bad sleep habits you need to be concerned about:

Exercising before bed can stimulate the nervous system and keep you wide awake for a long time.  Also, some people find it’s difficult to forget about their problems once they get into bed.  Again, to eliminate this bad habit, you may want to resort to saying prayers or a form of meditation before bed.  This helps many relieve all of their worries and feel peaceful and contented right before you nod off.

If you like a warm room, increase the room temperature.  Otherwise, a cool room may make sleeping easier.  Check your pillow.  Is it too thick, creating an unnatural curvature in your neck?  If you have any questions about your pillow, bring it into our chiropractic office and we’ll evaluate it for you.

Do you allow pets to sleep on the bed with you?  This may work if the bed is large enough, but a big dog may take up too much room on the bed and interfere with your ability to get a full night’s rest.  It’s a natural subconscious reaction to be careful not to kick an animal sleeping on your bed and you may be sleeping in a cramped position to prevent kicking the animal.  Consider a separate dog bed for the bed or a cat bed for the cat.

You should set a calming mood before going to bed.  While you listen to a few soothing music songs, draw a hot bath.  Let all your worries go in the tub, down the drain with the water.

It is best for your bedroom to be dark because the darkness stimulates regeneration in the body.  At night, the adrenal glands go to work replenishing the body’s hormones, especially cortisol.  This hormone assists us in handling stress and  inflammation.  Detoxification and repair of the body also occurs during the night.

Recovering from fibromyalgia may be one of the most difficult things you ever accomplish, and you have quite a few strategies here to create your expected results.  Go for the highest goals – full recovery.  You can find our other Fibromyalgia posts by going to our blog by clicking:  Hometown Family Wellness Center

Freehold NJ Chiropractor Shares Video about the Myths and Misconceptions of Chiropractic

My name is Dr. Russell Brokstein and as a chiropractor in Freehold, NJ, I feel it’s so important to keep up with the news and current research.  While browsing facebook, I saw a video clip of one of my favorite, world-wide renown chiropractors, Dr. Patrick Gentempo, DC.  He was interviewed on a major NJ news station, clearly and passionately discussing the virtues of chiropractic and the distinction between chiropractic and medical practice.  Watch his brief 6 minute interview to see how chiropractic can bring you and your family the natural health and wellness you deserve:

Chiropractic is effective with many musculoskeletal conditions like back pain, neck pain, inflamed and herniated discs, sciatica, fibromyalgia, headaches and migraines.  Many people don’t know how chiropractic actually supports general health and well being. Like Dr. Gentempo explained, in our office: Hometown Family Wellness Center located in Freehold, NJ, we have a unique approach to your health that has helped many patients that have failed with other medical approaches. Chiropractor in Freehold NJ Shares more Dietary Recommendations for Fibromyalgia Sufferers

My name is Dr. Russell Brokstein, Freehold, NJ Chiropractor and owner of Hometown Family Wellness Center.  I have been helping Fibromyalgia sufferers for the last 13 years and have written a home recommendation report available to all of my patients.  I decided to share many of these recommendations on my blog posts as there are so many people suffering  needlessly with Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

In our last post in the series on Fibromyalgia I started to discuss dietary recommendations.  You can read the previous blog by clicking:

Diet Recommendations for Fibromyalgia Sufferers Shared by Freehold NJ Chiropractor

Today we are going to discuss antioxidants and the power it has in helping Fibromyalgia patients.

Many people know how important Vitamin C is, but they don’t know that it is also an antioxidant.  An important diet strategy for lifetime health is having enough antioxidants in the body at all times.  The function of antioxidants is to quench chemical fragments called free radicals that can destroy cells, tissues and organs in the body.  The more antioxidants floating around in your bloodstream, the better your body can heal itself from bacterial or viral infections.

That’s why adding more vitamin C to your diet through vitamin C rich foods like grapefruit, oranges, kiwi fruit, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and other berries is a must.  It’s easy to add them in – just plan a few healthy fruit snacks during the day in between meals.

A grapefruit satisfies hunger and prevents hunger cravings later in the day and is ideal as an afternoon snack.  A cup of berries on top of yogurt or in kefir milk is an excellent way to get more vitamin C and also heal the intestines.  You could even freeze the yogurt or kefir milk for 30 minutes before eating it and you’ll make yourself a nice semi-frozen dessert.  It will be similar to what you find at the fast food restaurants, but loaded with nutrients.

You can use Vitamin C supplements too, but I recommend eating foods rich in natural Vit C.  It’s a good idea to take more vitamin C than what is recommended.  In college, I discovered that taking extra vitamin C after a workout prevented muscle soreness from happening.  I tested this thoroughly and did 10 sets of calf exercises, up and down for several minutes, and with all that exercise, I should have been practically unable to walk the next day!  This didn’t happen when I took high doses of Vitamin C!  It stopped the lactic acid production.

I find Vitamin C is very helpful to those with fibromyalgia and the vitamin may even cut down on some of the soreness that is felt on a daily basis.

You can save money on Vitamin C supplementation:  You can take vitamin C in the most economical way by buying one pound of ascorbic acid crystals for about $10.  One teaspoon of the crystals is usually equal to about 4000 mg.

Don’t be afraid of taking vitamin C.  The Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling who studied the vitamin took more than 20 grams a day and he lived a long healthy life.  One way to take ascorbic acid is to mix 1/2 teaspoon into a little grapefruit or orange juice for breakfast and the same amount in juice before you go to bed at night.  That will give you 4000 mg for the day, enough to boost your antioxidant levels, turn back the clock on signs of aging, and help you raise thyroid levels indirectly.

There are some precautions with Vitamin C.  With vitamin C, it’s important to decide on a specific dosage and always take that amount.  Of course, you can always temporarily raise the dosage for 3 to 7 days to recover from an illness. 2000 mg is a good dosage of vitamin C to start with; so is 4000 mg.  I  help my patients decide which one is better for them.  It’s your job to take that amount every day, no matter what.  No excuses!

Antioxidants help in so many ways.  There are other vitamins that are antioxidants other than Vitamin C and Vitamin A.

Vitamin E is another good one, and research shows that this vitamin is important for allowing muscles and nerves to function with less oxygen. Vitamin E gives you endurance and stamina.  It prevents the adrenal hormones from being oxidized, helps the eyes focus, and assists in preventing scar formation.  Vitamin E also keeps us looking young.

In the past, vitamin E was used to normalize blood flow in menstruation, correcting menstrual rhythm.  Higher doses of vitamin E can act as a natural flu vaccine, strengthening the cells from viruses and bacteria.  It also eases headaches and extends life span.  Racehorses given vitamin E won more races than those without the vitamin.  Vitamin E also is helpful in cases of muscular dystrophy.

This antioxidant can be pretty important for those with fibromyalgia, too, because a lot of fibromyalgia patients have menstrual disorders, headaches, muscle aches and pains, and want to look and feel younger from more oxygen coursing through their arteries!

I like to add extra Vitamin E to my patients’ supplement plan, 400-800 IU mixed tocopherols or alpha – tocopherol, per day.  The only exception is if you have high blood pressure, get 200 IU capsules of alpha or mixed tocopherols and take 200 IU for a week.  The next week, take 200 IU twice daily.  The following week increase to a total of 600 IU and the following week a total of 800 IU.  Taking 800 IU all at once if you have blood pressure shocks the body by providing a lot of extra help for the blood vessels too soon so you have to build up slowly.

Oxygen boosting supplements also benefits Fibromyalgia patients.  Germanium and coQ10 are two supplements that help oxygenate the system.

Germanium is a mineral that has an important role in oxygenating the system, bringing oxygen to the cells.  I’ve found that some fibromyalgia patients swear by the effects of germanium supplements.  It has cut their pain by about 50%, but all patients won’t find this to be true.

Germanium is different than geranium flowers!  Germanium is an element not a flower.  Most bottles at the health food store can be pricey, but check around online because you should be able to find a good price.  You’re looking for tablets that are 100-150 mg germanium.  Take one to five per day, then start cutting back to the level that still results in a reduction of pain and is increasing your energy levels and endurance.  Instructions will say on the label of the bottle to not take it at night before bed, but in fibromyalgia patients, if you take it before bed, you may find it much easier to wake up in the morning!

100 to 300 mg CoQ10 supplements will increase the amount of energy that a person has during the day.  I find this works quite well in a lot of patients who are so tired during the day.

CoQ10 is used in the body’s metabolic pathways in the very last step of the breakdown of carbohydrates for energy.  Before the energy is “handed over” to the body’s cells, CoQ10 is responsible for the handout!

In our next posts to help Fibromyalgia sufferers we will talk about what to eat and what not to eat, exercise and sleep recommendations.  By making many of these changes, along with chiropractic care and stess reduction therapy, our office has been helping Fibromyalgia patients from Freehold and neighboring towns of Marlboro, Manalapan, Howell, Colts Neck, Jackson, and Morganville in Monmouth County New Jersey.

If you or somebody you know suffers with fibromyalgia, share this and our other blogs with them and feel free to contact our office to find out if our 4 pronged approach to health will help you get back on the road to enjoying a normal active lifestyle without drugs or surgery.

Freehold Chiropractor Shares there is Nothing Natural about the Flu Shot

So many people are misled about vaccines and the flu shot.  There are so many chemicals that are in these injections that are very harmful to everybody and actually weaken your immune system.

As a chiropractor and health professional in Freehold, NJ I feel it’s important to share this information that is not normally shared with the public.  I try to educate my local community of Freehold, NJ and other neighboring towns of Marlboro, Manalapan, Howell, Colts Neck, Jackson, Morganville, Englishtown, Millstone and other locations in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

I was recently reading an article that was titles:  “Nothing Organic About the Flu Shot” and the analogy used should be clear to anybody that reads it.

If you spray pesticides and insecticides on apples and other produce, they are no longer organic.  Add a drop of oil to spring water and it’s not pure anymore.  Most Americans detest the idea of dumping chemicals in a pristine environment, but why not have the same aversion when it comes to getting the flu shot, other vaccines and pumping the many medications into the body?

Most people just don’t realize what’s in the flu shot.

1) Mercury is a know toxin in the form of thimerisol.  When many of us were growing up we were told if a thermometer broke, don’t touch the mercury because it is poisonous.  Yet, they inject it right into people with these flu shots.

2) Glycol is a component of antifreeze.  You know the stuff they use in cars to prevent freezing?  Do you think that is healthy for your body?

3) Formaldahyde is the chemical that is used to preserve and embalm cadavers.  Do you think it’s helping to preserve your live body?  No, this stuff is pure poison.

These are just the top, most toxic substances used in flu shots and other vaccines, there is a huge list of other dangerous chemicals being injected into people every day.  If you dumped these chemicals into your local water supply you would get arrested, and the water would be off limits.  Every year, unknowing Americans line up at CVS, Walgreens, other pharmacies and doctors offices to get injected with this toxic mix into their blood stream.  The side effects are numerous from these chemicals.

Which would you rather take a bite of?  An organic apple or the one blasted with toxic chemicals?  The real question is would you take a bit out of yourself after getting injected with the ingredients in these shots?

There are natural ways to boost your immune system and protect you from the flu.  Our office, Hometown Family Wellness Center, helps many patients with chiropractic and other natural and alternative healthcare to help people keep healthy without drugs or surgery.  I would be happy to help you or anybody you know to keep your body organic this season!  Call our office for a complimentary consult at 732-780-0044.

The Frustrating Road Of Fibromyalgia Finally Helped by Freehold Chiropractor – Part I

I’m a chiropractor in Freehold, NJ and have helped many patients in Freehold, Marlboro, Manalapan, Howell, Colts Neck, Jackson and other neighboring towns of Monmouth County who suffer with Fibromyalgia.

If you’re like many other patients with fibromyalgia, you’ve had a rough road in life up until now. There may have been times when your family and friends didn’t understand how you were feeling and why you couldn’t keep up with the normal pace for housework chores and personal responsibilities. It’s been frustrating.

There were, no doubt, times when you turned down invitations because you weren’t up to all the walking, hiking, shopping, and camping that everyone expected you to do. After all, you know your body’s limitations; knowing that pain and fatigue would follow a seemingly fun excursion to the mall or camping trip was enough negative reinforcement to say no to these types of activities.

You probably have spent time and money on doctor hopping, with little solutions and another bag full of prescription medication that worries you when you think about side effects.

There were probably many nights when you did not get enough sleep, and then many days when you could barely get out of bed in the morning or experience chronic fatigue and restless leg syndrome.  Your days may have included hours of feeling sad and depressed, experiencing brain fog where you didn’t think clearly, and pain and tenderness almost everywhere in your body. Greeting the new day didn’t seem too exciting during those times and may have almost seemed like you were the main character in the movie, Ground Hog Day, reliving the same day over and over again!

Things change when you get a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and use an alternative health practitioner who considers the whole body and uses natural methods to help you get well.

Your friends and family will start to believe that you haven’t been making up symptoms all along. After all, you were never a hypochondriac! Why couldn’t they believe in you before? The good news is that they believe you now and still want to help you as much as possible. They want to experience you – the whole you – and your total personality back in full force and have wanted to do so for a long time, since the start of your illness. Your family and friends love you and will feel relieved that now there is a strategy that can produce results. They feel grateful that someone finally discovered the reason behind how bad you’ve been feeling for so long and has a plan that works to bring out the real you again.

My name is Dr. Russell Brokstein, chiropractor in Freehold, NJ and I believe there is an innate intelligence that can be followed and will result in the fastest improvement.   Your chiropractic care can only help you facilitate a faster recovery. Chiropractic manipulations of the spine are valuable because they restore the impulses in the nervous system in locations where there was a disruption before. One of the findings of research scientists is that there has been a head trauma that may be responsible for the disorder.

It’s As If Your Brain Cries Out, “Yippee!”

Once the brain and nervous system start feeling the restoration of the impulses in areas where there was a disruption before, the nervous system practically cries out in joy!

If your nerve cells could talk, they would say, ‘I’m alive again! I’m not like a dim bulb that puts out very little light anymore. See how much I shine! Tell everyone I’m back again and life is going to be great!’ After each chiropractic adjustment, there’s a little more hope, a little more brightness in life, and a little more vitality in each part of the body.

If  you are ready to be pain free, relieve your fibromyalgia once and for all without the harmful side effects of Lyrica, Savella, or Cymbalta, and enjoy your normal active lifestyle… contact our office, Hometown Family Wellness Center by calling 732-780-0044 and make sure to look for our next parts to our Fibromyalgia series which includes home care recommendations.

Chiropractor in Freehold NJ is helping fibromyalgia sufferers have less pain, more energy, and enjoy life!

Suffering from Fibromyalgia is not your fault and it’s NOT in your head.  Clinical studies have shown that the majority of fibromyalgia sufferers started having symptoms after a traumatic event like a car accident, work in jury or a fall.

If you suffer with fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, you know how demanding life can be.  You probably experience aches all over your body, disturbed sleep, tender points in the neck and shoulders, recurring headaches, fatigue and stiffness, and or restless leg syndrome.

A patient with fibromyalgia explained it like this…

“For people who take good health for granted, it’s hard to imagine a condition that makes simple tasks great tests of will and determination.”

Fibromyalgia is a real disease with real pain.

Many medical doctors don’t even think fibromyalgia is a real disease, but you know it is. You feel it every day — from the minute you wake up in the morning, all your  normal daily tasks like cleaning the house, doing laundry, even cooking dinner takes a lot out of you.

Mark Pelligrino, MD (author of The Fibromyalgia Survivor), found that 2/3 of 2,000 fibromyalgia patient files showed patients started experiencing their symptoms after traumatic events like a car accident, work injury, or a fall.

Another study published in the 1997 issue of Arthritis And Rheumatism, said fibromyalgia is 13 times more likely to occur following neck injury than following a leg injury.

Prescription drugs are at best  “masking tape” that covers up the daily warning signs of a painful disease.

Pain pills, even over-the-counter medications, don’t fix the cause of your problem. They may be necessary for a momentary crisis, but using them long term is no way to live. Many of these pain medications are quite addicting and have very real side effects.

One medication, Lyrica, was originally used to treat seizures.  It basically reduces the pain by “killing” the nerves.  Well, nerves are only 10% for sensation, the remaining 90% is for your body to function properly.  I’ve had patients who were put on this drug and said it helped reduce the pain, but they were so sedated, that they couldn’t perform their daily activities.

The other medication, Cymbalta, was originally approved for depression, anxiety and diabetic neuropathy.  One risk is increase of suicidal behavior and noted increase depression with Fibromyalgia sufferers who take this drug. (previous info received from the FDA website).

Have you been everywhere, tried everything, and are still suffering?

Fibromyalgia is often called the invisible disease. You look fine on the surface, but underneath you’re often exhausted and in excruciating pain.

My name is Dr. Russell Brokstein, DC, owner of Hometown Family Wellness Center located in downtown Freehold, NJ in Monmouth County. Over the past 13 years I’ve used gentle treatments to help so many fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue patients feel better and live healthier, more joyful lives.

By taking a different approach, we naturally get to the cause of fibromyalgia.  We do not cover up the symptoms with medications, that at most mask the symptoms.  Our goal is to get you feeling better to enjoy your normal daily activities, family and social life once again.

In our Freehold, NJ office we analyze 4 areas known to be out of balance with patients suffering with fibromyalgia.  We test the nervous system with advanced computerized technology.  Then we check the adrenal glands, also called the stress glands.  These glands help regulate the major hormones of the body, but if not functioning well, you will not adapt to stress well and experience many symptoms.  Next we analyze the toxicity or pH levels of the body.  Finally, we are one of only 4 doctors in NJ that have advanced biofeedback that tests for internal and external stressors that are scientifically proven to contribute to many symptoms including Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and restless leg syndrome.

Finally, A Proven Solution

 For Fibromyalgia Pain

Numerous studies have shown the benefits of chiropractic care in fibromyalgia patients:

Dr. Frederick Wolfe, a well-known investigator of fibromyalgia and clinical professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, ran a study on fibromyalgia.

He asked patients to indicate drug or alternative treatments that best relieved their pain.

Dr. Wolfe found that changes in lifestyle worked better than drugs and stated “Chiropractic treatment also scored among the most effective measures.”

Another study examined the effectiveness of chiropractic in relieving fibromyalgia symptoms.

After just a few chiropractic treatments, fibromyalgia patients suffered from less pain and fatigue, and actually enjoyed better sleep.(JMPT 2000)

And best of all, there will be…

No Harmful Drugs, No Uncertain Procedures, And No Intimidation.

I look forward to helping you get rid of your pain so you can start living a healthier, more joyful life.  Imagine how great you could feel without your constant fatigue and nagging pains. Imagine waking up each morning, jumping out of bed, and enjoying the day…no more waking up and feeling like you got hit by a truck.

Imagine not having to take handfuls of pain pills that haven’t helped much and have dangerous side effects.

What would it feel like to finally have hope again?

If you suffer from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and or restless leg syndrome, there is hope!  Regain your life back, like the many other patients we have helped in Freehold, Marlboro, Morganville, Jackson, Howell, Colts Neck and Manalapan, NJ.
